Five year Sun King
2020-2025
After what started 5 years ago as a pure inspiration, has resulted in a super nice, tight, energetic tribute band of the legendary British Rock band “the Cult”.
The inspiration arose somewhere around September 2019 after which the real start could be made on February 22, 2020.
The click was there immediately at the first (practice) meeting. Corona, however, put a blemish on the start, but was used excellently to prepare a nice setlist. The conscious choice for “live versions” has resulted in an enthusiasm that the audience can greatly appreciate.
Christmas Eve 2020 we had planned our first performance, via a livestream due to the corona measures. It was very well received.
After that many beautiful memorable performances followed, including: Benefit concert TivoliRaalte, organized by ourselves, MOMFest Veghel, Rock Tribute Festival Raalte and many, many beautiful performances throughout the Netherlands, Germany and soon also Denmark.
The first 5 years were fantastic, both the performance and with us as band members with each other. We are looking forward to the coming years with great pleasure in which we will try to expand further.
Biography
In the shadow of the fame of one of the most influential rock bands of all time, a tribute band called Sun King was born, dedicated to honoring and carrying on the legacy of their musical heroes The Cult.
Inspired by the raw energy, mysticism and rebellious spirit of their iconic idols, Sun King embarked on a journey to embody the passion and fire of The Cult and share it with a new generation of music lovers. The origins of Sun King can be traced back to a moment of revelation when a group of likeminded musicians and fans united in their deep admiration for The Cult’s music. Driven by a shared love of captivating rhythms, powerful vocals and groundbreaking lyrics, they decided to forge their own path by honoring and exploring the rich catalog of their idols.
As time went on, Sunking’s influence grew and their reputation as a tribute band of exceptional quality spread like wildfire throughout the music scene. From intimate club performances to sold-out arenas, their renditions of The Cult’s most popular hits attracted a diverse crowd of loyal fans and curious listeners, all united by their shared love of timeless rock music. “Love Removal Machine,” “Lil’ Devil,” and of course “She Sells Sanctuary,” as well as the more subdued songs like “Edie” and “Revolution,” are certainly not to be missed in this set. Sunking’s story is one of admiration, devotion, and constant inspiration.
As custodians of The Cult’s legacy, they remain true to the spirit of their musical heroes while enchanting and inspiring a new generation of fans with their passion, energy, and undeniable talent. Their music will always shine like a bright sun on the horizon of rock history, reminding us of music’s timeless power to touch hearts, uplift spirits, and change lives.
